Rawr means "I love you" in dinosaur... :)

So, this has been a fairly average past few days. And by average, I mean not spectacular. As in, migraines, head colds, and various other ailments... in one day. Not that this is going to be a whiny post, I'm just filling you all in on why my shoulders are pretty much rubbing my ears. Anybody else ever do that? Get so stressed from life in general that, before you know what's going on, you can barely move your neck and shoulders from all the tension? I think that I need to take up yoga or something. Who knows? Maybe I should knit more... I feel so legit with my knitting right now. I actually have a callous developing on my left hand from the way I hold my needle. It's pretty awesome. Also, I am feeling very proud of myself, because, as an EXTREMELY technologically illiterate person, I managed to set up, hook up, and not break a printer. That is a huge deal for me. I mean, it's a little sad that it's such a big deal, but it is, and I'm pumped.

Okay, so I'm cutting this post rather short, as I would like to be able to wake up tomorrow morning... But I shall be posting again soon. Hopefully more frequently than I have been these past few days.

As for the culture post, I'm going to suggest that you visit this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/crazy4jesus22#p/f/35/GOcVkofa1AUhttp://www.youtube.com/user/crazy4jesus22#p/f/35/GOcVkofa1AU

Zack's cake...

Okay, so for Zack's going away party, he asked for a patriotic, American flag type cake... So, with a TON of help from Emily and Stephanie, I made this...

Yeah... Seriously, without Steph and Em, this cake would have been nonexistant. I'm not even kidding...
Anyway, I'm making this a fairly short post... However, for the culture post, I figured I'd share a video of the new skill I am hoping to acquire with some help from my awesome friend Garry! So y'all check this cool stuff out! (And, no, you don't have to watch the whole thing...)
And for all of you worriers out there, no, I'm not going to get hurt. Promise... for now.

I vant to suck your blood...

So, today was the blood drive at school, so I decided to donate my blood for the first time. I'm actually really proud of myself. They took a whole pint! And I didn't faint, or even get pale! That is really saying something, considering how little I ate today. The only downside to giving blood was that they took it from my right arm, and I'm right-handed. This is causing a few problems, like not being able to use my right arm without it hurting pretty badly... Oh well. It's a small price to pay to know that I made a difference.

Anyways, Zack was supposed to fly out this morning for basic, but due to snow (how crazy is that?), he's not leaving until tomorrow morning. I'm really proud of the kid, but man, I'm going to miss him. He'll be gone for 8 1/2 weeks, but I'm so proud that he's being given the chance to live out his lifelong dream. If any of you think about it, keep him in your prayers over these next few weeks. It's going to be crazy hard on him, but he can do it. He's a really good kid, and I love him and believe in him with all my heart. I couldn't have asked for a better guy!
For the "culture post", I decided it was about time to introduce you all to one of my favorite websites....
MyLifeIsAverage, or MLIA, as it is fondly known, is a constant source of happiness for people everywhere. It's awesome. Check it out.

Ojalá que llueva café...

Yup, that's Spanish. And it's a totally AWESOME song. It was was written by Juan Luis Guerra of the Dominican Republic (which is like the second poorest country in the Americas). It's title literally says "I wish that it would rain coffee", which sounds a little strange at first, but the song is actually talking about how he wishes the earth would produce more crops so that his nation could become richer and his people wouldn't have to suffer. We learned this song in Spanish the other day, and it really got me thinking. Why doesn't everyone feel this way, or pray this way? That would solve so many of the world's problems. I mean, I haven't been the most charitable person thus far in life, and why not? Who knows? Really, we all the ability to give something. Seriously, even if you only donate stuff like plasma (which you get paid for), or clothes to Goodwill (which you get a tax write-off for, I believe), you're still doing something amazing. Therefore, I'm going to start trying to really help the world in any way I can. I hope buying/asking for TOMS counts (TOMS is a shoe company that donates a pair of shoes to children in need for every pair you buy. If you want to check out their store, it's at www.tomsshoes.com). But I'll stop preaching at y'all... for now. Bahaha *grins evilly*.

So, I haven't been posting because we are FINALLY moved into our new house (for the most part) and I haven't had internet for a while now. I know, I know, you are all gasping for air at the thought of me without internet. But I survived. I tried posting from my phone, but it wouldn't let me.

Oh, culture post, before I forget. This culture post isn't really much culture as it is charity (don't worry, no money involved).

Basically, you answer (easy) questions, and they donate rice. It's really simple, and you can change the subjects the questions are based on. It's totally awesome.

I like to move it, move it...

So, today we packed and tomorrow we move... Four whole minutes away from our current house. I'm really happy about the move though. For the first time ever, I'll have my very own room! I'm pretty pumped about that... I mean, I love my sister, but having my own room will be totally awesome.
Also today, I colored 5, yes FIVE, pictures out of my new dinosaur coloring book I got for my birthday (thanks again to Ashley and Blake!). Yup, I did a lot of coloring... and knitting. I'm pretty much the youngest old woman ever, a fact I tend to be pretty proud of.
Tomorrow should prove to be just as awesome, however, as we are beginning to move AND we got (free) tickets to see Gravity Slashers motorcross show! I'm super excited. And all of that means time with my boyfriend. Which is about to become super scarce, as he'll be leaving for Basic Training in 11 short days. So now I'll be heading to bed, to get prepped for tomorrow. Goodnight, cyber-world!
Oops, almost forgot my "culture post"! Can't do that, now can I?

Yes, that's a Miley Cyrus song, and yes, I actually like it. Okay, okay, now that you've gasped in shock, I would like to thank my friend Stephanie for introducing me to this version of The Climb. Peace out for now y'all!

Yes, I know. I'm posting waaay too much.

Alas, I know I'm posting way too often, as many beginners do, however, I can't help it. Writing is what I do. I write and I sing, but I like to think that I'm a better writer than I am singer. Anyway, I'm sitting in the living room watching my Dad and youngest brother, Jack, play the Wii while my younger sister, Megan, does school work and Bo, my other younger brother, plays a Pokémon game. And all the while, I sit here, typing away, watching my family, and truly realizing just how lucky I am. I just ate an awesome meal (buffet chinese food, one of my favorite guilty pleasures) to celebrate getting a new (bigger) house and am now relaxing with my (brand spanking new) laptop, merrily clicking away the stresses of the day. While many people would find this dull, or uninteresting, I'm soaking this up. I'm going to be leaving for college soon (God willing), and I will no longer be here for this. That truly saddens me. Of course, I'm also saddened by the fact that I will no longer live within a block of my "second family". Mike and Emily have pretty much adopted me... I mean, their daughter Bailey calls me her sister, and their son Isaac drew a picture of the family, me included. Just saying, if you want to see an awesome family/totally cool cakes, they have a blog too! But seriously, I'm so thankful for what I have. I don't want it to seem like I'm just sucking up or sugar-coating, because I'm really not. Yes, my family bugs the ever-loving daylights out of me at times, but they are one of the greatest families ever. I truly love them and don't know what I would do or be without them. But I'll stop with that for now... How about another song for my "culture of the post"?

Awesome song, in my opinion. Hope you enjoyed it!

Realizations.

Last night, while laying in bed unable to sleep, I had a realization. I... am weird. I am truly, honestly, exceptionally weird. And what makes that such an epic realization? It's epic because I DON'T CARE. I know, you're currently gasping and thinking "How can someone throw off all of society's norms and standards without a care in the world?!?" Well, my friend, the answer lies deep inside my twisted little brain. When I get dressed, the harder I try, the uglier I feel. Conversely, the less I try, the prettier I feel. Maybe it's because I see plenty of girls every day that try so hard to be pretty that they don't even care what they miss out on. I mean, people seriously spend up to an HOUR getting dressed up for a bunch of people that don't really even matter. I see people get dressed up to go to Wal-Mart and I always wondered why they did it. Then I realized that many of them can't feel pretty without nice clothes and a ton of makeup. That really saddens me. However, I do feel bad for them, so I'm going to post my current Mirror Verse* and then move on to happier topics.

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's eyes." -1 Peter 3:3-4 NIV

Okay, so to let everyone get to know me a little better, I figured I should include a video, picture, song, or something of the sort with every post so all you cyber-people can see the kinds of things I like. Since it's my first one, I'll start with an awesome video that totally rocked my world.

http://videos.komando.com/2009/06/18/african-thunderstorm/

Why, yes, that was the hit song Africa, originally done by Toto. And yes, it was being done by a group from Slovenia. And yes, it was amazing, was it not? I know, I know, I have awesome taste in music. And now you can too!

*Mirror Verses are verses I put on my mirrors so I can see them everyday. They usually have something to do with beauty, but can really be about anything.

Hi, my name's Caitlin, and I'm an internetaholic...

So now that the "Welcome aboard!" post is done, let me tell you a bit about me. My name is Caitlin, but my dad calls me Cricket, hence the name of this blog. I'm taken by a military man to whom I hope to one day be married. I love music of all sorts. I am the Associate Children's Pastor at my church, but prefer to be called the "Assoc Child Pastor", because that's what my nametag says and I find it funny. I'm rather immature, but can act like an old lady any day. In fact, if you could see my bedroom, it is filled with Nerf swords, coloring books, knitting, and weaving. I know I'm weird and that few people like me, but I couldn't care less. I feel most confident in jeans and t-shirts or workout gear, though I don't know why. I love to read. I also love to sing. I do believe that covers enough about me. Anything else you want to know can be answered upon request!

First time!

Hello there! My name's Caitlin and I'll be your tour guide on this strange and exciting trip through the mind of a random young woman. Please keep your curse words, nasty thoughts, and poor judgement inside your head at all times! Thank you, and enjoy the ride!
