New look for the blog and a (seemingly) endless job hunt...

Seriously, is it IMPOSSIBLE to get a job that is NOT in the restaurant/major retail store industry?! As an 18 year old with no job experience, yes, apparently it is impossible. Argh. I truly want to work in a daycare, but Magness Creek ELC hasn't even looked at ANY applications yet (I turned mine in a full week ago). I'll be calling Cabot Patch Kids tomorrow, though a full time job at Magness would be soooo much better than part time at Cabot Patch. Although right now, anything is better than nothing. I really wish I could just get paid to work for the church, but that's not going to happen. I wish it would though... that would save me a lot of trouble, since I already do plenty of work for the church. If I were paid, I'd do tons more. But you know what they say: "If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride."

Enough complaining for now... So I hope everyone likes the new design of my little blog. I decided the background picture should be of something I'm deeply in love with, and books seemed like the logical choice. I've been a book-aholic for many years now and I don't think that's going to change any time soon. Actually, in my dream house, I would have a library 3 stories high, walls fully lined with bookshelves, bookshelves packed with books. Old ones, new ones, big ones, small ones, any kind of book you could ever imagine. Even if I never read them all, just seeing books makes me happy. Especially those in someone's private library. Oh, and of course, my library would have a skylight for a ceiling with a huge overstuffed chair and a fireplace. I've had this planned out for years now. I could very easily buy that many books, too. No problems whatsoever.

So now that I've bored you all to death with my talk of jobs and books... One of my friends on Facebook posted a quote today that I found very funny: "Just heard BP stopped the leak. They put a wedding ring on it, and it quit putting out." I just about died laughing. Also, I saw a brand name last night that struck me as, well, interesting, to say the least. What was this brand name? G Sus Sindustries. If you don't get it, read it aloud. If you still don't get it, ask someone nearby. My mouth literally dropped when I read it. I was completely shocked.

So, I decided you guys deserve to hear a great song from an awesome guy from my hometown of Longview, Texas. I even met him a couple of times, since Meg went to school with his son. Who is this fantastic artist? Neal McCoy. What's the song? Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On.

new cars and job hunts. :)

So I got my first car that's all mine! It's a 2001 Ford Taurus and it's beautiful. It only needs an air compressor and a new antenna and it will be great! I'm so happy! Now no one will have to chauffeur me around.

So, because I now have insurance to pay and college coming up, I am deep in a hunt for a decent job... I applied at 3 daycares thus far, although I would prefer one in particular... Y'all just please pray I get something, anything, that will give me some good hours and let me off for church. Thanks in advance.

That's all for now, folks, but I will leave you with a challenge: go out of your way to do something great for someone today. Even if you just buy someone lunch when they cant afford it, any act of kindness can be the thing that changes a person. Every little bit counts. Show someone God's great love. It will improve your day, too. God bless you all.

I'm back... :)

Yup, I have my phone again AND I downloaded the androblogger app, which allows me to post, read, and navigate any blog through the Blogger website. It's pretty rad, if you ask me. So anyway, I'm posting this from my phone as a trial run of sorts.

Wow... it's really been a while since I last posted... sorry about that. Not much has occurred in my absence though... I've been applying for jobs and cleaning house. Which reminds me... it would be super great if y'all could pray for me. I have to get a job, but I have one in mind that would be amazing.

Sorry I don't have more to say just yet, but I'll be back again soon. :)

In need of prayers...

So tomorrow is the AP Spanish exam... I do NOT feel prepared AT ALL. I'm so nervous. I have to be waiting outside the school at 7:45, so if anyone reads this before then (or up until about 1 PM tomorrow, which is when I should be done) PLEASE say a prayer for me! I'm so very nervous and stressed. I truly hope I do well...

Anyway, I'm done griping and complaining now... THREE DAYS LEFT OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, sorry. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, let me say this a little more calmly... Thursday is my very last day of high school. EVER. I'm pretty stoked about it. I mean, it's a little saddening, but I'm mostly just really pumped. Now I just have to make it through college, and I'll be done! I'm one step closer!

Okay, enough of that already... "The jig is up, the news is out, they finally found me, the renegade who had it made retrieved for a bounty, never more to go astray this will be the end today of the wanted man..." (Why, yes, that IS Renegade by Styx!!!) I have a newfound love for Styx, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, Peter Frampton, JonnyLang, and sundry other artists. I am addicted to music. It's my drug. At least I'm not addicted to illicit drugs or alcohol... It could be much worse than music, haha.

But for now, I must bid you all adieu. I shall leave you with a link to one of my favorite songs....

Yup, that's Foxy Lady by Jimi Hendrix... Amazing, isn't it? :)

Until next time... Love y'all!

Migraine madness...

*sigh* Okay, that was my obligatory sigh of desperation. I am absolutely fed up with migraines and medicines that don't work. They are so pestilent. But that is already enough complaining for one post.

On a much more positive note, I'm now a (legal and legit) driver, an organ donor, and a registered voter. Also, my cap and gown came in for graduation. And all of this happened in one short day. I told my friends that all of my "grown up stuff" decided to happen all at once, which was fine with me. However, I'm almost certain my mom almost cried when I tried on my cap and gown. Neither she nor my dad are ready to accept that I'm about to be moving out.

On another note, I know what kind of job I want for my summer job, besides being an intern for Grace Family Church (which is the greatest church EVER! Can I get an "amen"? Haha). I want to work for a daycare. Any daycare will do. So, if anyone knows of one that is hiring in the area, or will be hiring after May 14, let me know!

Oh, also, I have switched from the music listed in my previous post (sorry that was so long ago) to things like Stevie Ray Vaughan (henceforth referred to as SRV), Peter Frampton, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, and the like. These guys are amazing. I'm not even kidding. I LOVE this music. And it's clean stuff too, for the most part. Especially SRV. He's awesome. As a matter of fact, he shall be my culture post.

On a final note, I am no longer dating Zack. I broke up with him about a month ago. *pause for the collective "Oh my word! How could you do that to such a sweet boy?!"* Yes, I know. I broke his heart, I'm a cold-hearted snake, I'm a horrible person, I hurt a very sweet boy. I know all of this, but I know that I did what was best for both of us, really, in the long run. It wouldn't have worked in the end, as our lives didn't mesh, and I fell out of love. Now I know some of you will say "Oh, that's not possible. You can't just 'fall out of love'. It takes time, if it's even possible." Well let me tell you a thing or two. It CAN happen, and it DOES take time. It's not as if I woke up one morning and said to myself, "You know what? I don't love him anymore." It didn't happen that way. It was a slow, gradual process that I refused to see for a very long time. However, once I finally saw that I had been leading him on, I knew in my heart that I had to end it, for both of our sakes. I deserve to be happy, and he deserves a girl who will love him forever. You may disagree with my decision, and you can tell me that you do, but please choose your words carefully. I may be a "cold-hearted snake", but even snakes have feelings. I've been hurt enough by people calling me names and generally saying I'm a bad person (and a few other choice words), I don't need anymore. I've already got the general idea that no one really agrees with me for some reason. I know I'm doing the right thing though, so have at it.

Now, for the culture post... The only hard part shall be choosing from SRV's many amazing songs.... Hmm. I think Pride and Joy would be a good start.

This is SRV, live at Montreaux Music Festival back in 1985. Good stuff right here. Enjoy!

Multitasking:slang for "suicide by overwork".

So, even with a title like that, I'm still trying to multitask... I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm memorizing for church, doing math homework, posting this, texting, listening to Five Finger Death Punch (more on that later), and I'm on Facebook. And I still have to shower and clean my room AND the bathroom before 10. Let's see how well I can do! This is like a game for me... A sick, twisted game that is probably the cause of all my stress. Speaking of stress, apparently, I'm a bit too stressed, as I have been eating very little these past few weeks. I actually get nauseated at the site of food, causing me to lose roughly 10 pounds and my family and friends to worry. However, as I have not passed out, I think I'm fine. I'm still a healthy weight, I promise.

Okay, so about the Five Finger Death Punch thing... I know, I know, they aren't exactly a "wholesome" band... But neither is Rob Zombie, or Iron Maiden, or Shinedown, or anything else I've been listening to. But, no worries, I'm not converting to Satanism or anything. I just have a very wide ranging taste in music. Although I do feel a little strange looking at my iTunes and seeing death metal right by Disney and gospel... Oh well! I'm still a good girl, though, so don't worry about me. I promise.

But anyway, for now I must bid you adieu so that I can finish my homework, memorization, and cleaning. Love you all!

P.S. Sorry for not having culture posts these past few posts... :(

Aida...

So, tonight I get to see Aida, the spring production that Cabot is doing. Ordinarily, I wouldn't go to a school play. However, my mom gave me money for a ticket and I have a very close friend who is in the musical, so I shall be watching it tonight. I'm very excited! Also today, I passed the "written" (it's actually computerized now...) part of the driving test. I know, I know, I'm doing this really late in life, but I've always had a HUGE fear of cars, so it's quite a big deal that I'm overcoming that. Also also today (if you don't get it, don't ask, haha), I have been uploading CDs onto my new laptop. I think I have about 20 CDs to upload, most of which I've been having to input the title, artist, and album manually. I've only had one so far with which I haven't had to... Oh well, anything for good music! Anyway, I haven't been posting a lot here lately, and I feel a little bad, but it's because I had a different kind of writing streak going on. I've been working on a book for a looooong time now, and making very little progress, but last night, I sat down and wrote 3 full pages. Which may not seem like much, but for me, that's a really huge improvement. I think I've been doing really well. I've also made a lot of progress in my knitting. Wow, I'm turning into such a strange person. Fortunately, I don't mind a bit. I actually like myself more now than I have in years, probably in my whole life. So, anyway, I don't have too much longer before I have to be ready to go, so I have to cut this post off (again, sorry!).
